Lahore – Excise Department has included 56,000 property units in the new housing societies of region B into its system. The department has also enforced property tax on these units through which an estimated tax revenue of Rs. 90 million per annum will be received.
By including these 56,000 property units into the system, number of tax payers has increased to 385,000. The property tax budget of region B is Rs. 2 billion, out of which 78 per cent of the budgeted tax has been recovered by the Excise Department.

Islamabad – Maroof Afzal, Chairman Capital Development Authority has recently visited different avenues and roads in Islamabad to inspect ongoing development work and patchwork of roads started by the Engineering Wing of CDA.
Sanaullah Aman, Engineering and Environment Member briefed the Chairman about work progress. On the occasion senior members of the concerned departments of CDA were also present.
Maroof Afzal directed the engineering and environment member to complete the construction, repair and maintenance work early.

Lahore – Departmental Promotion Wing of the LDA (Lahore Development Authority) has given approval for promoting eight officers of engineering wing to 19th grade as Directors.
The officers who will be promoted include Chief Engineer TEPA – Muhammad Saeed Akhter, Director Quality Control – Hussain Baqir, Director Engineering Kachi Abadis – Muhammad Aijaz, Additional Chief Engineer TEPA – Saif ur Rehman, Additional Chief Engineer TEPA – Khalid Mehmood Alvi, Director (HQ) TEPA – Sohail Rashid, Director Engineering (HQ) – Mudassar Tanveer Sheikh and Chief Engineer LDA – Israr Saeed.

Karachi – DHA Karachi has received a notice from SHC (Sindh High Court) regarding the blockade of roads leading to Do Darya recreational spot, on the case filed by private hotels.
Private hotels submitted in the court that they were allotted land on lease by the DHA for development of hotels on the beach avenue. They also submitted that they had funneled huge amounts in the development work and now DHA Management asks them to vacate the land. DHA has also blocked the roads that lead towards these hotels.
Addressing to this, SHC has restrained DHA from blocking the roads and ordained the authority to ensure the presence of senior official at the next hearing in the court.

Islamabad – At least 98,000 individuals are living illegally in almost 24 slum areas of Islamabad. These individuals also include foreigners having criminal track records. Search operation is underway against these immigrants.
An official of Interior Ministry has unveiled that these illegal residents in the slum areas mostly include Afghans and they bear no proof of their stay. He also said that some of the areas have been cleared out but remaining areas are still sensitive.
The official said that an option to develop pickets around the slum areas is under review. According to a report, 24 slum areas are located in the sectors I-9, I-10, I-11, H-9, H-10, G-6, G-7, G-8, F-6 and F-7.

Islamabad – From 5thmarch, 2014 the Capital Development Authority will start plantation drive in the capital with the collaboration of NGOs and other organizations.
During the campaign, around 600,000 saplings will be planted. In this regard, an official from the CDA has said that a major role is played by shrubs and trees in protecting environment and refining urban landscape.
He also said that the Capital Development Authority is applying all the possible resources to strengthen the status of the capital city – Islamabad. He requested the residents of Islamabad to provide reasonable backing in this cause.

Lahore – Stay against demolition of Lady Willington Hospital building has been extended till today by Justice Abdus Sattar Asghar of the LHC (Lahore High Court).
In response to the petition filed against demolition, an additional advocate has said that no violation has been done by provincial government, as no portion of the building has been bulldozed yet. The petition was filed by Dr. Yasmin Rashid – Pakistan Tehreek – e – Insaf leader and Young Doctors Association.

Lahore – During a recent anti-encroachment drive, the LDA (Lahore Development Authority) witnessed a violent protest. Four trucks were burnt out by angry protestors.
The protestors turned violent when LDA continued to clear encroachments in the Township area of Lahore. Stones were pelted at the district administration officials and LDA staff by the dwellers and local businessmen.
A car cylinder also got burst due to fire, which further deteriorated the situation. Later on police and rescue staff arrived to control the situation.

Islamabad – Yesterday, the Chairman of CDA (Capital Development Authority) visited Lake View Park and Ankara Park. During his visit, he directed civic body to undertake full-fledged development work in the parks.
The chairman issued orders for early completion of maintenance and repair work at Ankara Park. He also directed that for providing better recreation to the citizens, state of the art facilities should be provided in the park.
He said that a strategy should be made to ensure that the maintenance of parks is observed all the time.

Islamabad – Next month, the CDA (Capital Development Authority) would conduct an operation against Kachi Abadis (slums) in the capital. According to a source, the slums are being occupied by people who have hailed from different locations of the country.
A CDA official has said that the authority has devised a strategy to remove illegal slums from the capital. He also said that the Capital Development Authority is aiming to coordinate with Capital Territory Police and Ministry of Interior for undertaking this operation.
An official said that the National Assembly and standing committees of Senate have directed to start an operation against slums.
